Frida Yolotzin Jonguitud

A passionate, awarding winning Blackwater photographer.

Frida is originally from Cuernavaca, Morelos. Graduated from the Autonomous University of the State of Morelos with a degree in Biology and has been living on the Island of Cozumel for 4 years. She is a scuba instructor, underwater photographer and an active environmentalist. She’s been passionate about jellyfish, ctenophores and siphonophores since she knew of their existence, but spent most of her life thinking she had to go down in submarine to see the world of zooplankton, until she went on a night dive and discovered that the planktonic vertical migration is all around us and she became obsessed with photographing this beautiful and enigmatic life forms. Nowadays she is an award winning blackwater photographer and videographer who loves sharing the magic of the the fascinating creatures that can only be seen on the open ocean at night.
