Blackwater diving is a night dive in open ocean, away from a reef, over deep water.

What will I see?

The critters which we spot on these dives are rarely seen by other divers – which makes these dives an extremely special event.

Life in our oceans depends on plankton and blackwater diving relies on strong lights to attract this microscopic plankton, which in turn, attracts an abundance of weird and bizarre looking larvae stage critters.   Some of the most impressive larvae we are lucky to encounter includes; long armed octopus, mantis shrimps, sea snails,  diamond squid , tripod fish, lion fish, frog fish  and an array of other fish, crustaceans and cephalopods – we have even encountered the Gibberfish before, on numerious occassions!
